History of the Clubs at River City
The Clubs at River City has been a leader in the community for 40 years. It originally began as a small racquet club with four courts. Since then, we have multiple facilities offering a complete athletic club, the racquet club with 12 indoor courts and 8 outdoor courts, youth fitness club and – of course – the Fun-N-Fit Academy. Fun-N-Fit was created to fulfill the important need for high-quality early childhood education.
Please review all of our PROGRAMS BY AGE to gain stronger insight about your specific child’s curriculum.
Fun-N-Fit Hours of Operation & Parent Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Fun-N-Fit open hours of operation are from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
All children need to be dropped off by 9 am each morning unless the child has a documented appointment. A sign-in/out binder is located at the front desk. Please be sure to sign your child in and out each day at both pick-up and drop-off. This is a DCFS policy. Failure to comply with this very important rule may result in termination of the childcare.
If your child is going to be dropped off late, the office needs to be informed no later than 8:30 am. Drop-off and pick-up will not be allowed during the hours of 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm.
Fun-N-Fit will be closed on the following holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day (July 4th)
- Thanksgiving and the Day After
- Christmas Eve
- Christmas Day
If a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the holiday will be celebrated (and the Academy will be closed) on Friday or Monday. If a holiday falls on a child’s scheduled day, full payment is still due.
In case a weather emergency forces us to close, you will be notified immediately. It will also be broadcasted on radio and television stations providing local school and organization closings. Please make sure to provide our staff with a current phone number that also has texting capabilities. Email address are also acceptable.
Fun-N-Fit provides a tasty, nutritious breakfast at 8 am each day, lunch at 11:30 am, and an afternoon snack at 3 pm. Menus are planned ahead of time in accordance with USDA child nutrition standards. Menus are posted in the front foyer and copies area available by request. The Fun-N-Fit staff will do their best to accommodate allergy and religious food requests, however, we cannot accommodate food “dislikes.” If there are “undue hardships” made on Fun-N-Fit, the parent will be asked to provide a prepared meal for their child. Refrigeration and microwaves are available.
If your child has a food allergy, please inform management of the allergy and any reaction they may experience, in writing, at time of enrollment.
For parents of infants, pre-made bottles will need to be provided by the family, but jar foods will be provided by Fun-N-Fit. Once your child is ready to start finger foods, please inform our staff. We will be happy to work with you on transitioning from child jar foods to our daily menu.
If your child is not here during a meal, the meal will not be saved for later. Meals are scheduled and it is the parent’s responsibility to ensure the child is present during mealtime or fed before arriving.
Fun-N-Fit does not assume the responsibility for lost/misplaced/stolen items at the center. After disenrollment, families have 30 days to claim any personal belongings. After 30 days, the items become property of Fun-N-Fit.
Toys from home are not allowed at Fun-N-Fit unless previous arrangements have been made by the classroom instructor.
Flip-flops, Crocs, and other open-toed sandals are not allowed at Fun-N-Fit. The children are in an active daycare and the safety of your children is top priority. Failure to send your child with proper shoe attire will result in a phone call for parent to bring appropriate shoes, or the child will be dismissed for the day.
Blankets are required for naptime. Blankets are washed once per week. A pillow and stuffed animal are optional. If these become a problem we will ask the parent to take them home and not return them to Fun-N-Fit. Parents are asked to take pillows and stuffed animals home on Fridays for washing.
In an effort to expose children to different learning experiences, field trips may be taken on occasion. Parents will receive prior notification and permission will be required. For transportation, Fun-N-Fit will rent a school bus with a licensed driver from a local bus transporter or transportation will be provided by the Fun-N-Fit bus with a DCFS-approved driver.
We all love to celebrate birthdays and holidays! You are welcome to bring food to celebraete a special occasion, however according to DCFS rules, food must be purchased from a Health Department regulated kitchen such as a bakery or a grocery store.

Health and Medication Policies
Unfortunately, at some point, a child will become ill. To help protect your child and the other children at the center, we ask that you do not send your child to Fun-N-Fit when he or she is ill. What only seems like a cold in one child may cause more serious effects to another. If your child does become ill at the center, you will be immediately notified and the child will need to be picked up within the hour.
Medication can be administered by the Fun-N-Fit staff with the written permission of the ordering physician, and then relayed to our teachers by the parent through a medication authorization form. We are required to follow the manufacturer’s instructions or the physicians prescription. Pain medicine cannot be given to keep the child in the center when he or she has a fever. All unused medication will be sent home at the end of the day, or for a continuous medication, it will be sent home on Friday or the child’s last scheduled day of the week.
Topical products such as sunscreen or diaper rash cream will need a sunscreen/topical ointment authorized form completed. For these products, please first try them at home to ensure your child will not have an allergic reaction.
CPR & First Aid
If a child should be injured at Fun-N-Fit, our staff will apply the proper first aid, document the incident, and, if needed, contact the parent.
Our facility requires that someone who is CPR and first-aid trained be present at all times. If the injury requires more extensive medical attention that what our staff has been trained for, we will make every attempt to contact parents, emergency contact(s), and, if needed Emergency Services. Children will be transported to the hospital by either a parent or a Fun-N-Fit staff member in an Emergency Service’s vehicle.
If you wish to discontinue your child’s care, Fun-N-Fit requires a two-week written notice. Disenrollment forms are available in the office. If no notice is given, you will be responsible for two weeks of tuition.
